Two weeks ago we made the big move to Bay 3 in American Steel from The Shipyard. We had a great crew of Fluxers who made the move quick, fun and super easy. Now, we’re mostly settled and diving right in to the next project for the Flux Foundation: Brollyflock. What’s that, you ask? Well, let us tell you:
Brollyflock is a renegade flock of umbrellas creates a fun
and inviting installation, producing light, shade, mist and fire. The Brollyflock is a dancing swirl of recycled materials, anchored by oversized handles to a wide base. The lowest umbrellas
feature periodic misting systems, while the highest are beautiful copper flame effects. By day the Brollyflock is a refreshing landmark, by night its internal glow and firey top enliven its surroundings.
Brollyflock will be fun and whimsical, and it won’t have straight lines anywhere except in the brollies themselves and in the handles at its base. As Rbca said to me the other night, “Die gerade Linie ist Gottlos!” (“The straight line is godless!”), a quote from her favorite artist, Friedrich Hundertwasser.
