The last
month has been busy for us Fluxers. We spent the cold, rainy winter months fixing up the Fishbug for a trip to Southern California in late March. We took it out to play at Beyond Wonderland with a bunch of our friends, including the Flaming Lotus Girls who brought Mutopia, Interpretive Arson with Syzygryd, and Jon Sarriugarte and crew who brought out The Golden Mean Snail Art Car.
We had a pretty ridiculous time down there with all those amazing people. The Fishbug wowed all the ravers with its poofer tusks and strange, ever-changing thoughts visible through its translucent brain. We spent the night running around with the Fishbug button getting wide-eyed, amazed young kids to light up the poofers. There was
even a surprise appearance by the famed Eskimo Booty and some pretty silly
antics on that Fishbug tail that probably made it blush a bit.
Beyond Wonderland was a huge electronic music
event in San Bernadino, CA, attended by over 40,000 people. It is an event put on by Insomniac, a Southern California production company that has been supporting large-scale fire art at their events since 2009. This is the first year that they are going really big with

the art, and it’s so exciting to see the results. More than once we heard people say that they come to these big music events for the art — it’s the art that makes the party really worthwhile. It was amazing to share this fire art with a crowd that normally may not ever get the chance to see anything of its kind. We were inspired by the conversations we had, sharing who we are, what we do and how we build things with the people pushing the Fishbug’s buttons.
We’ve got tons of pics of the build and the event here, here and here. Check ’em out.
And, our new project, Brollyflock, will be headed to its own little party in Las Vegas in June — Electric Daisy Carnival. Stay tuned for more news and notes from Bay 3.
